The Principles of Hybrid Metaphotography
I. Photography does not represent — it transforms
The shot is not a final point but a starting point. Photographed reality is raw material: subject, light, and composition form the foundation for something that did not exist before. Photographing is the first gesture of a longer transformation process.
II. Artificial intelligence does not replace — it reveals
AI is not a beautification tool nor an aesthetic filter. It is a generative force that amplifies what the eye cannot see alone — the emotional dimension hidden within the image, the tension between what is and what could be. The algorithm does not decide: it responds.
III. The real and the surreal form a continuum
There is no sharp boundary between photography and artificial vision. The works exist in that liminal space where the recognizable dissolves into the unexpected — where a face is still a face, but no longer only itself. This threshold is where meaning resides.
IV. Emotion is the true subject of every work
Behind each series lies an emotional question: what remains when the masks are removed? What does redemption of the self mean? Where does growth end and involution begin? The works do not illustrate these questions — they inhabit them.
V. The artwork must disorient before it clarifies
The viewer should not understand immediately. They must first feel — discomfort, uneasy familiarity, something that does not align. Only afterwards, if they choose, can meaning be sought. Art that explains itself has already failed its purpose.
Artist Statement
Through the intersection of photography, artificial intelligence, and emotional introspection, this artistic research explores emotions and personal growth.
The works reveal the relationship with the self, representing an inner journey toward the discovery of true identity. At the same time, they highlight illusory manifestations and involutions, warning against false paths.
This is not an aesthetic of self-portraiture, but something deeper: an inquiry into what survives when social constructions, expectations, and the masks we wear to be accepted are stripped away.
The artist also explores the complex connection with others, provoking reflection on human relationships and their influence on identity. Who we are is also shaped by who looks at us, who loves us, and who hurts us.
Relationships are not a background — they are a shaping force. The works seek to make this invisible influence visible: how the other enters us and reshapes our sense of self.
Photography, transcending the boundaries of representing reality, is elegantly transformed when merged with unreal elements generated by artificial intelligence, giving rise to a new form of visual expression.
This technique — Hybrid Metaphotography — is not a genre but a process: each work begins as reality and becomes something else. The final outcome is not predictable at the moment of capture. It is within the dialogue between photographer and algorithm that the definitive vision emerges.
