Family Photographer in Milan and Bollate — David Golzio

David Golzio Photography · Family Photographer · Milan & Bollate Since 2016

Not the lineup by height. The way you all look at each other once everyone's finally in the same room, at the same time.

I photograph families across Milan, Bollate, and Lombardy: classic portraits, full family reunions, day-long documentary sessions, or portraits spanning three generations. I work around kids' and grandparents' schedules, not the other way around.

Family Photographer in Milan & Bollate

A family photo isn't a lineup by height, everyone smiling on command. It captures the way you've learned to share space, without stepping on each other's toes.

The first thing I usually hear, almost every time, is the same line: "we'll never manage to all hold still at once." That's true, and it's completely fine — that was never the goal. With three generations in one frame, two kids who won't look at the camera, and maybe a dog wandering into the shot, the perfectly composed moment lasts about five seconds. Everything after that is a lot more interesting.

My work starts before I ever pick up the camera: figuring out who holds whose hand, who makes who laugh, where everyone naturally ends up standing once nobody's directing them. We still get the posed shot — the one good enough for the frame over the mantel — and it only takes a few minutes. But it's in the moments around it, when the kids take off running or grandpa finally relaxes, that the photos come out looking like you.

I'm based in Bollate and work across Milan and greater Lombardy, with packages built around different moments in family life: a classic half-hour portrait, a full reunion with extended family and friends, an entire day documented start to finish, or a session built specifically around the bond between generations. Every family shows up with a different lineup, and the session gets built around that — not the other way around.

Why Work With Me

What makes my family photos different

Family photographers aren't hard to find in Milan. The real question isn't who takes the glossiest photos — it's who can handle ten people, three generations, and a kid who won't sit still, without any of that effort showing up in the final result. Here's what I bring to every session.

No catalog poses

I'll give you a starting point, something simple to break the ice, then let the scene take its own course. Whatever chaos comes after that, from a kid getting distracted to a laugh that starts before anyone's ready, is usually the best part of the shoot.

I know how to handle chaos

Kids running off, a dog barking, a grandfather who refuses to crack a smile: with more people involved, something unplanned always happens. It's part of the job, and it's almost always where the best shot comes from.

Locations we choose together

A place that means something to you, like the park where you played as kids or your grandparents' house, is worth more than a background picked at random. I also keep a running list of spots across Milan and Lombardy if you'd rather leave it to me.

Hands-on editing

Every photo gets edited individually, not run through one filter slapped over the whole session. Light, color, and detail get balanced shot by shot, for a result that looks natural, not mass-produced.

10-day turnaround

Within 10 days at most, you'll get a private link with every selected, fully edited photo, in multiple resolutions, ready to download and share with the whole family.

Prints & photo books on request

Beyond the digital files, I offer a selection of high-quality prints and photo books in premium materials, great for gifting to grandparents or keeping on the coffee table.

About Me

David Golzio — Photographer in Bollate & Milan

David Golzio, family photographer in Milan and Bollate

I live and work in Bollate, just outside Milan. I've been photographing families since 2016: classic portraits, big reunions, full days documented start to finish, or the bond between different generations under one roof. I've learned one thing, session after session: with more people in the frame, the good moment always shows up exactly when you stop expecting it. So that's what I wait for, every time.

Four Services, Four Ways of Telling Your Story

It's not one service with different names

Classic, Reunions & Friends, Day in the Life, and Generations aren't the same idea repeated four times. The length, the type of location, and sometimes even who's in front of the camera all change. Here's the real difference between each package, before you look at pricing.

01 · Classic

For a portrait that stands the test of time

Classic outdoor family portrait, photographer in Milan

The simplest, most direct package: half an hour for a polished family portrait, posed or candid, from a small household to a larger group. The right choice if you're after one strong image, done well, to print or give as a gift.

From €188 · 30 minutes

02 · Reunions & Friends

For when the family gets bigger, even just for a day

Family and friends reunion, photo session in Milan

Big birthdays, anniversaries, get-togethers with relatives you rarely see all at once — these occasions don't come around often, and they deserve more than a rushed photo on someone's phone. In two hours I can cover both the group portraits and the candid moments happening around the table.

€330 · 2 hours

03 · Day in the Life

For the real day, not the staged version of it

Day in the Life family photo session, family on a trip

A documentary approach: I follow you for an entire day, from breakfast to bedtime, letting the day play out on its own. It's not a session for everyone — it means forgetting there's someone else around with a camera — but it's the one that gives you the most honest portrait of how you actually live together.

€950 · 1 full day

04 · Generations

For the bond between grandparents, parents, and grandkids

Generations family photo session, mother and daughter portrait

Built specifically for families gathering across generations, when there's eighty years of age difference in one room and everyone wants to capture it together. I work at a slower pace than usual, letting the youngest and oldest find their own way of being close, without me forcing it.

€350 · 2 hours

Where to Shoot

Not every location works the same way with a family.

With a three-year-old and an eighty-year-old grandparent in the same frame, location matters more than usual: it needs to be easy to reach, safe to run around in, and simple enough not to steal the scene. Here's where I bring families most often, and which service each spot suits best.

Parco Nord

Big, almost never crowded, with open lawns where kids can run without anyone having to chase them. It's the location I suggest most often to families with young children, or anyone who wants more time without feeling watched.

Best for Classic & Reunions

Idroscalo

Water, grass, room to spread out a blanket and grab a snack between shots. Works well for bigger gatherings, when you need a comfortable spot even for the family members who tire out first.

Best for Reunions & Day in the Life

Your Own Home

For the Day in the Life package, this is almost always the best choice: the kitchen where you eat breakfast, the couch where you watch cartoons, the light you already know by heart. No posed shot beats real life.

Best for Day in the Life

A Rented Studio

For a more classic, polished portrait with a neutral background and controlled lighting, I work out of studios like Multiset in Bicocca, rented separately. A great option if you'd rather have a tidier, more elegant result.

Service Area — Family Photographer Milan & Lombardy

Where I Actually Work

My Service Area

My studio is in Bollate, but most sessions happen within a radius that covers Milan and its province. If you already have a specific place in mind — maybe one of the spots suggested above — I'll happily shoot there; otherwise, we'll work out the right balance between convenience and atmosphere together. For towns farther out, or shoots outside Lombardy, the travel fee is always spelled out clearly in the quote before you confirm anything.

Bollate, Milan, Rho, Garbagnate Milanese, Novate Milanese, Monza, Como, Bergamo, Varese, Pavia.

On request: sessions outside the region too.

Growing Your Family?

From Pregnancy to the First Months

A lot of the families I photograph for a classic portrait come back a few months later to document a baby on the way, or the first months with the newest addition. If that's you, you'll find all the details on the dedicated page.

Check out the maternity & newborn photography service. If a baptism, first communion, or confirmation is coming up instead, you'll find that dedicated service here.

Frequently Asked Questions — Family Photographer Milan

Frequently asked questions

How much does a family photographer in Milan cost?

Packages start at €188 for a half-hour Classic portrait and go up to €950 for the Day in the Life, which covers a full day. Price depends on length and the kind of story you're after. Message me the details and you'll have a custom quote within 24 hours.

How long does a session last?

Anywhere from 30 minutes for a Classic portrait to a full day for the Day in the Life. Reunions or the Generations package usually run about two hours, but we can always adjust based on how many people are involved.

How far in advance should we book?

For standard sessions, I recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks ahead. For reunions, milestone occasions, or holiday dates, it's best to lock in the date a month or two out — those are the times that fill up fastest.

What should we wear?

Coordinated colors work better than matching outfits — skip loud prints or big logos so the attention stays on faces, not clothes. Beyond that, just make sure everyone, kids included, is wearing something they're actually comfortable in.

What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?

For outdoor sessions, we keep an eye on the forecast in the days leading up and always have a backup date lined up. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we simply reschedule, no penalty.

Can elderly or less mobile grandparents take part?

Absolutely. I adjust locations and pacing to whoever needs it: short walking distances, nearby seating, longer breaks. The Generations package was actually built with this in mind, for family members who tire more easily or have a harder time getting around.

Can we bring our pets?

Of course. Dogs, cats, or any other family pet are welcome in any package. They're as much a part of the family as anyone else, and they usually end up giving the most spontaneous moments of the whole session.

When will we receive the photos?

The private link with all your selected, fully edited photos is ready within a maximum of 10 days after the session, in multiple resolutions, ready to download and share with the whole family.

How many photos will we get?

There's no fixed number set in advance: after the session, I personally select the strongest shots, usually a few dozen for a Classic portrait and more for longer sessions like Reunions, Generations, or the Day in the Life. The goal is a strong selection, not hitting a quota.

Do you shoot outside Milan?

Yes — you'll find the towns and areas I cover listed above. For sessions farther out, or outside the region, the travel fee is always spelled out clearly in the quote before anything's confirmed.

Ready to get started?

Let's tell your family's story. No lineup by height, promise.

Tell me what kind of session you're picturing, how many people it involves, and roughly when — a few lines on WhatsApp is all it takes. You'll have a quote within 24 hours, built around your situation, no forms and no waiting around.
